Each class will begin with a brief opportunity to experience the benefit of sound vibration. This will be our meditative moment of gratitude together before we start our work. Gratitude lies at the heart of everything in the Zentangle process. Recognizing gratitude in our art provides a foundation for connecting to gratitude in other areas of our lives.. In this sense, our art is always living with and through us.
There are a few guidelines for Zentangle drawing. Gratitude and Appreciation, there are no mistakes, and everything is drawn one line at a time. Students who commit to this practice will slow down and breathe. So often, humans do not breathe deeply and fully. The rhythm of Zentangle offers that gift. The student will witness a newfound confidence brewing within them as they create each day. After a few weeks, students realize they have connected to their hearts. This is when everything they view is witnessed through amazement and awe.
The greatest gift Zentangle provides is the ideology that there are no mistakes—absolutely none. We are all encouraged as Zentangle students to commit to our art from beginning to end. At first, I thought they were crazy, as I was throwing away my tiles if I was not pleased with the outcome. To stay with your art is to be part of it. To know with certainty that beauty comes from within and that all things are possible, one moment at a time.
There is no prescribed outcome in the Zentangle method. Thus,, often find myself surprised at the outcome of each piece. What would the world look like if we were taught from a young age that what we perceive to be a mistake is an opportunity for something we haven’t imagined yet? The materials are simply and easily accessible.
I'm eager to hear how I can assist in your journey towards mindfulness and creativity. Share your thoughts or questions, and let's start weaving your path together.
